In my experience, complexity is irreducible – problem spaces and solutions spaces both contain a mostly unchangeable amount of complexity. (Like a liquid, they are very resistant to compression).

I agree with the previous comments that the gathering of requirements must be design and technology neutral. Once the requirements are known, the trick of great design is how to empower the user while minimizing their exposure to the total complexity of the solution. This is the act of "partitioning complexity" through design.

Short-term economics, impatience and intellectual laziness tend to produce designs that painfully expose a greater portion of the solution complexity to the user than they should. Great designs expose a minimal amount of underlying complexity (the iPod and Google.com come to mind as obvious examples).

(This challenge is more about design excellence than tools, by the way. Every 5 years or so, a new tool or technique lays claim to really "simplifying" software product design and development. Anyone remember 4GLs and the "end of programming"?)

Well it is really nice to see the spiritual soul in you developing. Is it early in life ? Happiness is an experience that you relish by heart. It is upon an individual to develop it and not wait for it to happen. We must look for happiness at each moment. There is nothing called as big or small happiness. The contentment or the grade for the happiness will vary as per individual's quest for his material, psy and spiritual needs. The balance for its content of the three factors stated above varies. Needless to say their quotient must be dynamic and should change with passage of time. Where do we stand in this cycle ? A million dollar question !!! Just random thoghts by me. How do you like them ?

I am the online awareness guy for True North and would be happy to send you a copy of the book if you don't already have one (but it sounds like you do!). I've also forwarded this note to Bill George himself and he very much enjoyed it. Would you be interested in interviewing Bill perhaps for a blog note on True North in further detail?

Again, thanks for your time.

I look forward to hearing from you,

I had so many books (Champaks, Nandans, Paraags, Lotpots etc.) and get also from other friends and give it to kids to read and record their names in the notebook. I loved it when someone borrowed books and had the opprotunity to make an entry in the notebook.

Good Post.

It's true! Decision is the ignition key of progress because the instant one makes a solid decision, change will be automatic - happiness becomes possible. It’s one thing to have good desires but it’s quite another to make a quality decision of getting up and pursuing those desires - a decision that is in harmony with one's future and personal potential. Many people falter in this area because they do not want to make a commitment. Making a quality decision enables you to find the power of being commited towards your desires. Having a high-level compass is essential. Nothing ever changes until a man or woman makes a quality decision that is based on having a "True-North" in life.

Zen is wonderful. However, it leaves out the final step and lacks a few parts.

The lacking parts are how perfection is not a possible human achievement, but a pursuit with a purpose to back it up. Another lack is to not see the devil, demons, hell and a world system arrayed as the beginning of the matter and the enemy to fight. The final lack is to not see what is behind this deep desire to spin off into the made up of mind: the Flesh, sin in it, the lusts and the appetites as the driving slavemaster of our mind.

The final step is to see the person of Christ and His work. Moreover to see the "presence" in His words and where they point.

Tolle almost has it, but the exclusion of Jesus Christ is a pathway back in to the human mind and the made up that grips our hearts.

I read your call to help 4 billion people and I recall the words of Christ, "The poor you will always have with you, but Me, not always." The true poverty of humanity is not physical but in our makeup of heart and the battle raging over us between Evil and God Himself.
